Hi all!
Just wanted to send out a "thanks" to everyone who submitted photos in this month's "Nature" Photo Contest. Once again, this was a very difficult contest to judge. August's Photo Contest - "Back to the Basics"
Since January, The Photo Center has been presenting you with a monthly Photo Contest; giving you a topic to shoot, and having you submit your work via email. This month will be different. Same photo contest, same concept - but we will not bind you to a specific subject. . This month, we teamed up with The BDC Studio and Gallery 13 (both in Asbury Park) to you bring you "Back to the Basics."
 In a world where all cameras were created equal, who would get the best shots? With no gear can your patience, luck, and skill shine through? It’s time to find out!
Here's the deal; each person will be issued a standard, color, disposable 35mm film camera with twenty-seven opportunities to make one shot count. In an effort to bring you back to capturing the right photo THE FIRST TIME – and – level the playing field a bit; these images will be raw and untouched. No digital editing software will be used. Think you can modify your camera? Go ahead - all tricks are welcome... just don’t break it ‘cause you only get one! You will not get to see your photos until WE upload them ourselves.
After August 7th, go pick up your camera at one of our contest locations; The Photo Center, The BDC Studio, or Gallery 13. After shooting your subject(s), you will return your camera to The Photo Center where it will be developed and put on a disc. We will upload your photos to our Facebook Fan Page and also on BDC's Flickr Page for all to see/critique.
There will be a $20 entry fee. This fee covers the cost of your camera, the developing, and burning your images to a disc.
This contest will be judged by the crew at The Photo Center, The BDC Studio, and Gallery 13. Winner will be displayed at The Photo Center, The BDC Studio, and Gallery 13. Winner also receives either two-hours of studio time, or $75 of photo work (courtesy of The BDC Studio.) Also, same as in the past, the winning photo will be displayed at Gallery 13.
Deadline to drop your camera off is Thursday, August 26th. (We need time to process, upload, and judge the photos.) There will be NO exceptions to this deadline!
